Rafael Marques de Morais, the Angolan journalist and activist (about whom I have blogged before here (in English) and here (in Spanish) is launching his book «Diamantes de Sangue» («Blood Diamonds) today in Lisbon.
Rafael’s brave investigation into the human rights abuses of the diamond industry and the corruption of the Angolan government – now published in book format – landed him in prison, but also earned him the presigious Civil Courage Prize in 2006.
Since then Rafael has launched Maka Angola and anti-corruption website, where he’s continued to expose the shady deals of the Angolan regime, and where citizens can submit their reports of currupt practices.
If you are in Lisbon today, I recommend you to go along to a book that promises to be extremely interesting. And if you are not, you can order the book online, from the FNAC’s Portugal website. The book is not only worth for its contents, but has also been beautifully edited.
